NORMAN, Okla. - The Tigers scored first in their game against Lamar but could not hold the lead in a 13-2 loss.
Ben Nemivant led the team with three hits, including a double. James Arakawa has settled right back into the starting lineup as he had two hits and scored one run in the loss. Telly Hill drove in one run on one hit. Jacob Weiss hit an inside-the-park home run.
Hunter Hayes started the game for the Tigers, pitching six innings with seven strikeouts and allowing only two earned runs. Michael Defelippi was the only Tiger pitcher not to allow a run.
Hill gave the Tigers the lead in the third inning with a single through the right side to bring Arakawa home. The Cardinals took the lead in the sixth, scoring four runs. Lamar scored two more times in the seventh.
Weiss hit an inside-the-park home run in the seventh to bring the score to 7-2. After that, it was all Lamar, with seven runs in the eighth inning to put the game away.
The Tigers finish the weekend tomorrow with their second game against Oklahoma. The first pitch will be at 9 a.m.
