Los Angeles, Calif. - With the final events taking place, the Pacific swim team closed out its 2013-14 regular season on deck at East Los Angeles College at the 2014 MPSF Championships. The final day's events included the 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and 400 Free Relay.

Starting the final day off, freshman Margaux Verger Gourson just missed out on her first conference championship title as they first year swimmer took second place in the distance free event of the 1650. She closed out the event in a time of 16:42.35, just four seconds behind the title winner.

Following the women's lead, junior Brandon Chandler grabbed himself a silver medal finish in the men's side of the 1650 free race by posting a time of 15:29.61. The time not only was Chandler's and the team's fastest time in the race for the season, it was also fast enough to qualify the third-year swimmer with an NCAA "B" cut time.

After Chandler posted an NCAA qualifying time in the long swim for the Tigers, sophomore Cristina Mardones put her name alongside another "B" cut time, this time in the 200 Breast. Mardones touched the wall in a time of 2:15.65 to hit the qualifying mark while posting the fastest time in the event on the season. She just missed setting the school record for the 200 Breast, missing the mark by just .30 of a second. The "B" cut time was the second of the meet for the young Tiger after she hit the mark in the 200 IM on day two of competition.
