Tigers Edged Out By Aztecs In The Pool

San Diego Calif. - Swimming on the road for the second time in as many days, the Tiger women fell just short against San Diego State at Aztec Aquaplex as the Aztecs took the dual meet 129-113. The women finished the quick road trip to Southern California 2-1 overall after sweeping the meet at UC Santa Barbara a day prior.

Picking up where she left off the day before, sophomore Margaux Verger Gourson made short work of the field in the 1000 Free once again as the second-year freestyler posted the top-time of 10:14.66. The sophomore ace took the win in the long distance swim by :12 seconds to grab her second win in the event on the weekend. The win by Verger Gourson was one of the only consistencies for the Tigers on the day as Pacific mixed up its lineup and sent swimmers out to take on events not in their normal repitoire. For Verger Gourson, that meant taking on the 100 Fly while not swimming in the 500 Free.

In the 100 Fly, the Tigers saw freshman Kenna Ramey post the second-fastest time on the day as the first-year swimmer touched the wall at 55.29. In addition to Ramey's second-best time, in the 100 Fly, she was just out-touched in the 50 Free as she fell by just over a half a second after posting a time of 23.79.

Alongside of Ramey, the Tigers saw junior Haley Preston come up with a second-place showing in the 100 Back as she posted a time of 56.09. She would again tag the wall just shy of the top spot in the 200 Back as she tallied a time of 2:01.87, two seconds back of the top time.

Pacific is back in the pool in a week's time when they travel just up the road to take on UC Davis on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Tiger and Aggie women will square off at 12:00 pm as Pacific closes out the regular season.
