Mardones was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team once again in her senior year. She was first or second amongst Tigers in the 200 Free, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 Back, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Her 400 IM time of 4:21.17 earned her a place on the All-MPSF First Team. She made the Second Team in the 200 Medley Relay when Pacific swam a 1:41.56. Mardones also made the Second Team in the 200 IM with a 2:01.36 and the 400 Medley Relay with a 3:40.39, as well as the 200 Back with a 1:59.73. Mardones swam a 1:52.06 in the 200 Free also.
Mardones finished the year with a plethora of accolades from the conference. She was part of the All-Academic team for the MPSF. In addition, she finished second in the conference with a 200 IM time of 2:01.60, good enough to earn her a First Team nod. She also made the Second Team in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:16.74 and was part of Pacific’s Second Team 400 Medley Relay, which finished with a time of 3:42.05. Mardones had the best times for Pacific last season the 200 IM (2:01.60), 400 IM (4:18.30), 100 Breast (1:05.61), and 200 Breast (2:16.74).
Continuing to build upon her first year successes, Mardones was the Tigers' most decorated swimmer at the end of the year as she earned All-MPSF First Team honors in 200 Breast while taking home second team recognition in the 200 and 400 IM. At the MPSF Championships Mardones touched the wall in a time of 2:15.65 in the 200 Breast to hit the NCAA "B" qualifying mark while posting the fastest time in the event on the season. She just missed setting the school record for the 200 Breast, missing the mark by just .30 of a second. Two days prior, she came up with one of the top times for the night in the 200 IM when she posted a time of 2:02.28. The time put Mardones in the range of the NCAA "B" cut as well.
Mardones impressed during her freshman campaign, recording two top-eight times and one top-16 time at the 2013 MPSF Championships. She placed sixth in the 200 Breast (2:16.90) and seventh in the 400 IM (4:24.13), and came in 13th in the 200 IM (2:03.91). At the Pacific Invite, she took third in the 200 Breast (2:22.00), fourth in the 200 IM (2:09.14) and fifth in the 100 Breast (1:05.40). The UNLV Winter Invite saw Mardones win both the 200 IM (2:04.33) and the 400 IM (4:25.98) while coming in second in the 200 Breast (2:17.75) and fourth in the 100 Breast (1:04.78).
Mardones prepped at Institución Educativa SEK in Madrid, Spain. At the 2011 International School Sport Federation Cup in Malta in 2011, she finished with times of 58.83 in the 100 Free, 1:05.94 in the 100 Back, 1:12.30 in the 100 Breast, 2:38.18 in the 200 Breast and 2:20.40 in the 200 IM. Her marks in the 100 Free and 100 Breast were good for second, while she helped her IM relay squad to a third-place finishes.
Mardones was born in Bilbao, Spain, and is the daughter of Maria López-Abadia and Juan Mardones. She has a younger sister. Mardones will pursue a degree in bioengineering.
