INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Yahav Shahaf's NCAA trip came to a close today as Pacific's representative swam the 100 Breast, his final event. Shahaf matches his school-record time with a 52.62 in the prelims, then swam a 53.15 in the finals to take 32nd.
"Yahav set eight school records this year and he's still just a sophomore," said Head Coach Peter Richardson. "He's determined and focused to come back to the NCAAs again next year."
Shahaf also swam the 50 Free in 19.90 seconds, finishing in the top 40. Shahaf had previously set the school record in the 50 Free this season as well with his time of 19.61. Those were his only two events at the NCAAs.
This made it three consecutive years that the Tigers have had a representative at the NCAAs. Shahaf joins Kenna Ramey and Margaux Verger Gourson in reaching that mark. Next year, both Shahaf and Ramey will be back with the Tigers.
"Yahav is a leader and someone who is really well respected on this team. His focus on detail is second to none," said Richardson.
