Pacific Opens MPSF Competition with Three Top-Three Relay Finishes

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pacific men's and women's 200 Medley Relay  and 800 Free Relay teams opened the 2018 MPSF Championship event with three record breaking performances on Wednesday evening at the East Los Angeles College. 

The four finishes were highlighted by the men's 800 Free Relay second place finish. Neil Franka, Miles MacKenzie, Dylan Toy and Danny Larsen combined for a time of 6:26.00 and secured 34 points for the Tigers men's squad. That mark surpassed the previous record of 6:28.52, which was set by MacKenzie and former Tigers -- Georan Meendering, Brandon Presswood, and Curtis Klein during the 2015-16 season.

MacKenzie, also teamed up with Angel Alcala, Yahav Shahaf and Mason Miller for another record breaking performance in the 200 Medley Relay. The foursome secured a third place finish after clocking a time of 1:26.21, just one hundredth of a second behind Hawaii.

On the women's side, the Tigers broke a program record, while also claiming two top-four finishes. The 200 Medley Relay was an extremely tight race with just three-tenths separating first and third place. Cai Hong Singh, Semaj Walker, Kenna Ramey, and Becca Aguilar recorded a program-best time of 1:39.60, finishing behind UC Santa Barbara (1:39.30) and Hawaii (1:39.57).

Swimming the 800 Free Relay were Taylor Hosmer, Aguilar, Brigid McNally, and Angela Gagliardo. The Tigers were fourth overall with a time of 7:19.92.

Pacific will return to the pool at 10:00 am on Thursday for preliminaries in the 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Fee, and 200 Free Relay. Finals for all four events are scheduled for 6:00 pm.
