Prior To Pacific (Grossmont Junior College):
Appeared in 17 games on the mound for the Randy Abshier’s  Grossmont Griffins, starting seven games on the hill. Compiled a 3-3 record with a 2.56 earned run average in 59.2 innings pitched. Struck out 48 batters while walking just 18 as opponents hit .248 off the right-hander.

High School:
A 2009 graduate of Westview High School in San Diego, Shaver slugged .754 for Beau Champoux’s Wolverines as a senior, hitting .389 with eight doubles and nine home runs. As a pitcher, he went 5-2 with a 3.99 earned run average in 11 starts. Struck out 49 batters on the season and turned in a pair of complete games (including one in which he also turned in two homers at the plate)  to earn all-league and all-San Diego honors. As a junior, he posted a 3.94 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched, going 3-3 in 11 games. Also lettered in football.
