Stockton, Calif - Head coach Ed Sprague announced the 2013 schedule for his Pacific Tigers baseball team Tuesday. A renewal of the series with Fresno State, traditional home and away games with Stanford and trips to TCU, Oklahoma State and Omaha Nebraska for a series against Creighton highlight the non-conference schedule. Pacific's final Big West season also features the addition of Hawaii to the conference.
"I think once again we have a challenging non-conference schedule," Sprague said. "We have a great road trip planned with TCU, Oklahoma State and Creighton. It gives us a chance to go to Omaha and play in the new TD Ameritrade Stadium. We are continuing our series with Gonzaga. And we have a chance to play Fresno State. We've been trying to restore the series since I've been here. That's a long-time rival of Pacific that dates way back and we're excited to be playing them again. We think the non-conference slate is a good one to prepare us for our always challenging Big West schedule."
Pacific will renew its series with Fresno State (March 19, April 2) and take on Stanford (April 16, May 21), Santa Clara (April 9, May 7) and Nevada (March 5, April 23) in mid-week home and home dates. The Tigers will also host Cal (April 30) and Sacramento State (May 14) in single mid-week games.
The Tigers open the season with a split-site three game series with San Jose State visiting the Spartans on Feb. 15-16 before the home opener versus SJSU on February 17.
Pacific plays host to UNLV (Feb. 22-24) and Gonzaga (March 1-3) in non-conference weekend series. Pacific will also visit TCU (March 8-10), Oklahoma State (March 12) and Creighton (March 15-16) in non-conference action.
Big West play will open on March 28-30 as the Tigers visit Cal State Fullerton for a three game series, before the home conference opening series against Long Beach State (April 5-7).
The Tigers travel to UC Riverside (April 12-14) and host UC Irvine (April 19-21) before a road series at Cal State Northridge April 26-28) closes the month of April.
Pacific's final season in the Big West features an expanded conference slate, as Hawai'i joins the conference and will visit Klein Family Field May 3-5.
UC Davis comes to Stockton for a three-game conference series May 10-12, before Pacific's final Big West road trip, May 17-19 at UC Santa Barbara. The Tigers wrap the regular season at home against Cal Poly May 23-25.
