Baseball Drops Finale at No. 5 Cal State Fullerton

Fullerton, Calif. - The Pacific baseball team dropped game three at No. 5 Cal State Fullerton Saturday, 25-0. Erik Lockwood picked up a pair of hits for the Tigers.

2B Louis Mejia went one-for-two with a single and a walk, while Taylor Murphy (1-for-3) added a double for Pacific. Freshman C J.P. Yakel posted his first career hit.

The Titans completed the three-game sweep with a 25-hit outburst for a season-high in runs.

Fullerton improves to 24-4 on the year, 3-0 in the Big West. RHP Grahamm Wiest (5-1) picked up the win, going seven innings, allowing five hits and no runs while striking out four.

The Titans scored nine runs in the first, getting on the board with a Michael Lorenzen grand slam and two-run hits from J.D. Davis and Richy Pedroza. Fullerton's Carlos Lopez and Chad Wallach added RBI singles in the third, and Jake Jefferies drove in a run in the fifth and the Titans piled on in the sixth, sending 16 batters to the plate in an 11-run frame.

RHP Mike Hager (0-3) took the loss, allowing six earned in one-third of an inning. RHP Nick Viola tossed 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out one.
Senior SS Dustin Torchio made his collegiate debut on the mound in the eighth, striking out Jefferies while allowing a pair of hits and the final run of the ballgame.

Pacific falls to 7-15 on the year, and 0-3 in the Big West

The Tigers will look to bounce back Tuesday at Fresno State when Pacific goes for the series sweep of the Bulldogs at 6:35 p.m. The Tigers won 11-4 on March 19 as Jason Taasaas and Taylor Murphy each drove in three.
