STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific will head to San Jose State University for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 13. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.
San Jose State hosts the contest with a 6-9 overall record and 0-5 in the Mountain West Conference.
Shane Timmons leads the Spartans offense with 17 RBI, two home runs, and two doubles. He has connected for 13 hits in 57 at-bats. Chris Williams is the leading hitter with a .288 batting average with nine RBI and six doubles. Williams and Timmons have each scored 11 runs for the Spartans.
On the mound, Nicholas Morales (1-2) holds a 6.98 ERA in four appearances with four starts. In 19.1 innings pitched, Morales has struck out 15 batters. Relief pitcher, Wesley Clawson, owns a 4.32 ERA. Clawson (0-1) has made six appearances registering 14 strikeouts in 8.1 innings pitched.
The Tigers enter the game 7-10 overall, after picking up one win in a three-game series against No. 12 Indiana.
On Friday, March 9, the Orange and Black upset Indiana in a 2-1 victory. James Free notched one hit for one RBI in four at-bats. Bradley Jekich and Wyatt Hoffman each scored a run for the Tigers in the victory.
Kevin Sandri leads the offense with a .300 batting average through 17 games. Sandri has registered 21 hits in 70 at-bats. Nate Verlin and Free tie for first on the team for RBI with eight each. Verlin has scored 10 runs for the Tigers and ranks second on the team with a .281 batting average.
Casad (0-1) leads the pitchers with a 1.02 ERA. He has made seven appearances with two starts for the Pacific defense. Casad has pitched 17.2 innings with 17 strikeouts. Shelby Lackey (2-0) is right behind with a 2.05 ERA and has struck out 21 batters in 22 innings pitched.
Following the game, the Orange and Black will open West Coast Conference action with a three-game series at the University of San Francisco starting on Friday, March 16. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
