Centanni Nears Close of 2009 Season in the Minors
Dec. 9, 2009
Sarasota, Fla. - Pacific graduate Joey Centanni (San Diego, Calif.) packed his bags one month after graduation and signed with the Baltimore Orioles as a free agent to continue his baseball career after college. He joined the Gulf Coast Orioles, the rookie Class-A affiliates of the Orioles. Every week, he will be blogging about his post-collegiate experiences in professional baseball.
Minor League Baseball: Week #9
One Week to go in Sarasota. I am getting very excited to see all of my friends and family for the first time in a few months. I am currently watching the second Miss Congeniality movie... I don't know what it is called. My life is getting really exciting as you can tell. There is only a week left in the season.
I had a nice weekend: a little sun, some poker and some baseball. There are not many things better than that. I went to a war veteran gathering yesterday and played in a poker tournament. They are fierce. They took my money. It was actually a blast though. I am going to enjoy donating more money next week as well.
I threw another inning a few days ago. I gave up an infield hit and had one strikeout. I will probably only throw another inning or two until I am back home with my family. We had a decent week here in Florida. I am glad to say we won a few games this week. We are out of the playoff hunt, but we are still working hard as the season winds down. I predicted that the Pacific Women's Volleyball team will win the National Championship this year; I feel pretty confident about that, since I have some inside information. Don't let me down girls.
One more week of winning for the GCL Orioles. I only have one more blog after this. I know you are all going to miss reading these religiously week after week; but it has to end eventually. I'll be in Stock-nation in 11 days, call me if you can't wait that long.
After eight weeks with the Gulf Coast Orioles, Joey is now 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.
