Pacific Men's Basketball Signs Sama Taku For 2012-13

Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Thomason has announced the signing of Sama Taku for the 2012-13 season. 

Taku is a 6-1 combo guard from Tucson, Arizona. He is finishing up his second year at Santa Rosa Junior College where he was a teammate of current Tiger Lorenzo McCloud. Sama played in 31 games, leading the Bears to a 26-6 record a first Big 8 Conference championship with a 14-1 league mark. He led the team with 18.0 points per game and 107 assists as a sophomore. He also had 29 steals and was the teams top rebounder with 160 total boards. He was the Big 8 Conference's Most Valuable Player, while also earning First Team All-State honors. As a senior in 2010 at Tucson High School, Sama was named Arizona's 5A Divison 1 Player of the Year by the Tucson Citizen.

"Sama is an athletic combo guard that will bring quickness, scoring and leadership to the Tiger backcourt next season," said Thomason.
