Dorsey Joins Pacific Roster For 2017-18

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Tigers men's basketball team and head coach Damon Stoudamire are excited to announce the signing of combo guard Lafayette Dorsey out of Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. He will be on the Pacific roster as a freshman for the 2017-18 season and have four years of eligibility at Pacific.

"Lafayette is a tough, hard-nosed, guard who can score at all three levels," said Stoudamire. "He does a great job of attacking in transition and putting pressure on opposing defenses. His attacking style will allow us to play with tempo offensively."

As a high school senior in 2016, Dorsey helped lead the Dons to a 24-9 overall record and a Coliseum League title. He was named league MVP, First-Team All-City and CIF All-State. He averaged 21 points, five assists and six rebounds per contest.

Following his high school career, Dorsey attended prep school at OnPoint Academy in Oklahoma City and was the Outlaws' second-leading scorer, averaging 22 points per game. He also averaged four assists and four rebounds per contest.

"Lafayette also brings a defensive mindset to our program," continued Stoudamire. "He's capable of guarding 94 feet and is willing to put his body on the line for the benefit of his team. Coach Kenny Roy did a great job of mentoring and developing Lafayette during his prep year and we are extremely excited to have him join our program."
