Tigers Welcome UC Davis In Home Opener

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team will welcome a former Big West Conference foe and a regional rival, the UC Davis Aggies, to the Alex G. Spanos Center on Wednesday night to open the home portion of the 2017-18 schedule. The meeting is the front end of a home-and-home series this season as the Tigers will play at The Pavilion on Dec. 6. It marks the first meeting between the two schools since the 2012-13 season, Pacific's last campaign in the Big West. It marks the Aggies' first time at the Spanos Center since Feb. 2, 2013, which was the last meeting between the two teams. The Tigers have won five of the last six contests and are 82-12 all-time versus UC Davis, at one point winning 49 consecutive games versus the Aggies spanning from the 1939-40 season up until a Pacific loss on Feb. 10, 2010.

Pacific enters Wednesday's contest coming off an 89-80 loss at Stanford to open its season on Sunday night. The Tigers trailed in that contest by as many as 25 before whittling the deficit to five points with two minutes left to play. Pacific lost the contest despite outscoring the Cardinal in the second half 49-36. Miles Reynolds led the way for the Tigers with 20 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the floor.

UC Davis heads to Pacific on the heels of a 74-59 road win in their season opener at Northern Colorado. The Aggies outscored the Bears by 18 points in the second half and were led by Chima Moneke, who had 18 points on 10-for-21 shooting from the floor. Moeneke also led the Aggies with eight boards in the contest.

The Aggies were picked to finish second in the Big West preseason poll behind UC Irvine. Moeneke was named to the preseason All-Conference Team.

The game is part of a doubleheader at the Spanos Center with the women's team taking on UC Merced at 5 p.m. PT. The men's game will tip at approximately 7:30 p.m.  The game will be televised live on TheW.tv and on radio on 1280 AM KWSX and via the KWSX iHeart Radio station with Zack Bayrouty (play-by-play) and Bob Thomason (analyst) calling the action.
