Stockton, Calif. - With a new look but the same goal, the 2011-12 Pacific golf team tees off its new campaign at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Monday, September 18. The three day tournament will take place at the Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Courses in Monterey, Calif. and is hosted by Saint Mary's College. Along with the Tigers, 14 other collegiate teams will make their way to Monterey to take part in the tournament.
Led by senior Dan Garcia and junior Alex Edfort, the Tigers will take to the course with a whole new look as six freshmen join Pacific's two upperclassmen to round out the roster. After a four day qualifying tournament, Kevin Andrews, Joel Slak and Eric Sugimoto will team with Edfort and Garcia to make up Pacific's five man team at the tournament.
Last season, the Tigers took home a third place finish at the Saint Mary's Invitational after firing a +18, 882 over the three day event. Edfort finished the event tied for No. 22 in the individual standings with a +7, 223.
The tournament's first round will be played on the 7,117, par 72 Bayonet GC on Monday morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. That afternoon, the teams will tee-off the second round at 1:30 p.m. on the 7,024, par 72 Blackhourse GC. The final round begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Bayonet GC.
