Edfort Scores Big At The South Beach International During Off Time

Miami, Fla. - Making the most of his time away from the collegiate course during the Tigers' Winter break, junior standout Alex Edfort made his mark on the worldwide stage as the Somerset, N.J. native took home an 11th place finish at the South Beach International Amateur (SBIA) tournament in Miami, Florida.

The four-day tournament featured some of the best international amateurs as golfers from around the world came to Miami to tackle the Normandy Shores Golf Club and the Miami Beach Golf Club.  Edfort ended his tournament at +3, 286, a score which included a pair of sub-70 rounds including a 68 on the final day that tied for the low score of the round.

Kelly Kraft, the reigning US Amateur champion and sixth ranked amateur in the world, took home the tournament championship by shooting a -4, 279 while holding off the top two French amateurs on the final day.

The SBIA was designed to showcase golf's finest amateur players in a world class atmosphere. The field was limited to 240 players as the golfers took on two recently redesigned and renovated courses from master architect Arthur Hills.
