Edfort's Second Round 69 Puts Himself Into Contention At The Gary Koch Invitational
Tampa, Fla. - With a second round 69 at the 2012 Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla., junior Alex Edfort put himself in contention for the tournament title after the first day of play on Saturday, April 7. The junior finished his opening 36 holes at 3-under par and three strokes back of the leader in the clubhouse, North Florida's Joey Petronio, with just 18 holes to play on Sunday morning.
As a team, the Tigers found themselves sitting in ninth place overall after ending the opening day at +18 with a team score of 594. The Tigers took advantage of a strong second round of action that saw the team go just one-over par on the strength of Edfort's 69. Behind Edfort, freshman Byron Meth posted a +5, 149 for the day after shooting a +1, 73 over the second 18-holes of play.
Pacific and Edfort will look to make a move up the leaderboards on Sunday, April 8, when the final 18-holes of action tee off at the invitational. The tee times for the final round begin at 7:30 am EST.
