Waikoloa, Hawai'i - The seniors led the way once again as Pacific wrapped up the three-day Amer Ari Invitational Saturday. The Tigers finished the tournament tied for 16th among all teams present. Senior Matt Lee led the way for Pacific, recording a 72 to hit par on the final day and finishing at three over par total.
SeungJae Maeng and Tyler Burnes each shot 75s for the Tigers in the final round of the invitational. Maeng finished the weekend at four over par with a final mark of 220. Freshman Burnes' 75 followed up on his 71 in day two of the tournament. Lee finished just ahead of Maeng with a 219 as the two seniors finished at the top for Pacific.
Junior Geoff Fry shot a 77 in the final round of the Amer Ari. Fry tied with Burnes overall on the weekend with each finishing at 222 overall. Fry shot a 75 in the first round of the tournament and a 70 in the second round, besting Burnes by one in each of the first days before Burnes' 75 evened up their scores.
Lee's 219 was good enough to tie for 62 overall among the 115 qualified participants. Maeng finished tied for 68th while Burnes and Fry finished tied for 78th.
USC won the tournament with a -29 overall. The Tigers finished ahead of UC Davis, which ended at +27, and Cal State Monterrey Bay, which finished at +32. The Tigers tied with Hawai'i-Hilo at +19.
Next on the docket for Pacific will be the two-day Long Beach Invitational on February 29 and March 1 at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, California.
