Pullman, Wash. - The Pacific golf team finished up their first tournament of the season with a ninth-place finish at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate tournament.
The Tigers shot 15 over on the day to finish at +31 in the 54-hole tournament. Geoff Fry led the way, ending at +3 overall after going one over par today. James Feutz was right behind him at +4 overall and +3 today.
Fry had an eagle on the ninth hole in round one yesterday and twice had birdies to start strong. Two double bogeys cost him in the second round and he ended the tournament in 18th place. Feutz would get 21st.
Feutz managed to best his low score from last year for a round with his 71 in round one. He also matched last year's best of 72 in round two. Fry's 68 in round one tied his season best from last year as well.
Anthony Madrid shot a +6 today to end at +11. Following Madrid were Tyler Burnes and Austin Fox, who finished at +15 and +17, respectively. Burnes had a solid day today, shooting five over par, while Fox shot a seven over in his first ever collegiate tournament.
Madrid's first round of 73 was just one off his season-best from last year.
The Tigers next action will start on Monday, October 3 at the Nick Watney Invitational. That two-day tournament will take place at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California.
