Pacific Men's Golf 6th on Day 1 of Geiberger Invitational

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Sophomore, Daniel Peña led the Pacific men's golf team through the first two rounds of the Geiberger Invitational on Monday.

The two day event is taking place at the par 72 PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course in La Quinta, Calif.

Peña is currently tied for seventh with four of his West Coast Conference foes, including Loyola Marymount's Justin Egelske, BYU's Peter Kuest, and Santa Clara's Hayden Shieh and Derek Ackerman. After shooting a first round score of 74 to open the day, the Modesto product knocked off four strokes (68) in his second round to finish with a two-under 147 on the day. 

Casey Scott and Anthony Madrid are tied for 18th with a 145 (+1) through the first two rounds. Austin Fox and Jee Horsangchai shot an identical score of 151 (+7).

As a team, the Tigers stand in sixth place. Pacific shot significantly better in the second half of the day, shaving eight strokes off from its opening round for a two-under 286 in Monday's final 18 holes. 

Pacific will team up with Cal Poly and BYU for Tuesday's final round. Tee time is set for 7:48 a.m. Fans can access live scoring at Golfstat.com.
