Tigers Upset #11 San Diego State 2-0
San Diego, Calif. -  Goals in the 31st and 42nd minutes helped lift the Pacific men's soccer team (6-2) to a monumental 2-0 victory over No. 11 San Diego State (4-1-2) on Friday night. The win gave the Orange and Black their first win against a ranked opponent since the program's reinstatement in 2014 and extended their win streak to five games.
"Their performance overall today was very good," says head coach Ryan Jorden. "The guys do a great job in taking things game-by-game. San Diego State is a great team and I'm pleased with how we continue to focus on the next challenge ahead of them."

The Tiger offense stormed out of the gate in the first half, logging three shots in the first 20 minutes of play. In the 31st minute, Camden Riley finally broke through the stout Aztec defense and netted his third goal of the season. The sophomore headed the ball from six yards out off a cross from captain Andres Ochoa, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Right before the end of the half the Tigers added another goal, this time from Julio Cervantes for his third score of the year off an assist from Anthony Orendain. This 2-0 deficit was the largest the Aztec's have faced all year as they had only conceded one goal so far this season before facing the Tigers.

The back-and-forth continued in the second half with both teams trading shots. The Tiger defense did a great job in limiting San Diego State's scoring chances, despite the Aztecs rifling off eight shots in the final 45 minutes.  In the end, the Aztec offense could not find a way to break through, sealing the upset victory for Pacific.

Goalie Curtis Goldsmith continued his stellar play between the posts for the Tigers, recording three saves in the process of getting his third shutout of the season. The Aztec's leading scorer Jeroen Meefout, who has four goals this season, was limited to no shots on the day and, most importantly, was held out of the scoring line.

The Tigers will look to make it six in a row this Sunday as they take on the Cal State Fullerton Titans at 3 PM. Live stats and video will be available.
