STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific men's soccer team has unveiled its 2017 schedule that features seven home games as well as four contests against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago.
"We are very excited about the 2017 schedule as it continues a number of the rivalries that we have established as well as giving us a chance to play against some of the top teams from top conferences in America," said head coach Ryan Jorden. "Additionally, we expect that this fall, the West Coast Conference will be the strongest that it has been in a number of years."
The first of two exhibition matches kicks off on Aug. 13 against Westmont College, which is coach Jorden's alma mater. Pacific will then head to The Farm for a rematch of last year's NCAA Second Round contest against the reigning National Champion Stanford Cardinal on Aug. 19 to wrap up preseason action.
The regular season begins on Aug. 25th at Sacramento State before the Tigers welcome CSU Bakersfield to Knoles Field on Aug. 27th at 6 PM. Pacific will then head East to Virginia to take on Virginia Tech (Sept. 1) and James Madison (Sept. 3). A trip to Las Vegas for a battle with UNLV on Sept. 8 wraps up the road trip. Grand Canyon comes to town on Sept. 10 in a rematch after last year's thrilling overtime match in which the Tigers walked off victorious in the 98th minute on a goal from Tristan Blackmon.
The Tigers face UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 15) and return home for a contest against San Jose State on Sept. 17. Oregon State on the 22nd and West Virginia on Oct. 1 begin a five-game road slate for Pacific.
Conference play kicks off with a contest against Portland on Oct. 7. The Tigers will then take on San Francisco (Oct. 13) and Santa Clara (Oct. 17) before heading home against San Diego (Oct. 17) and Loyola Marymount (Oct. 29). The final road game sends the Orange and Black to Moraga, Calif. for a showdown with Saint Mary's on Nov. 5 and the regular season concludes at home against Gonzaga on Nov.11.
