STOCKTON, Calif.- The No. 17 Pacific men's soccer team kicks off a five-match road trip this week, with their first stop being Oregon State (2-5) this Friday at 7 PM. It will be the first time ever these two teams will square off.
Last week the Orange and Black faced their first setback of the season as they fell to UC Santa Barbara 1-0 last Friday. Pacific bounced back at home against San Jose State, defeating the Spartans 2-1 behind goals from Camden Riley and Anthony Orendain.
Sunday's victory brought Pacific to 7-1 overall on the season and earned them a No. 17 ranking by the United Soccer Coaches organization. Pacific is also ranked No. 17 by College Soccer News and No. 14 by Soccer America.
The Tigers currently sit atop the West Coast Conference non-conference standings, and also rank high on most WCC statistical categories. Pacific is tied for first in the Conference with 17 goals on the year and is second in points-per-game with 5.88. Defensively the Orange and Black are first in goals against average with 0.75 and are tied for first in shutouts with three.
Pacific next heads to Morgantown, W Va. for a match against West Virginia on Oct. 1st at 9 AM PDT. WCC play begins on Oct. 7th against reigning champion Portland at 7 PM.
