CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 17 Pacific men's soccer team fell to host Oregon State 2-0 on Friday night. Goalie Curtis Goldsmith logged a pair of saves on 12 total shots faced, and Johnatan Rico-Contreres and Tariq Branche both took a pair of shots on the evening.
The loss drops Pacific 7-2 while the win lifts Oregon State to 3-5.
The Tigers opened up with two quick shots by Alfredo Alcala and Tristan Blackmon on the Beavers. Going the other way Oregon State was able to take advantage of a Tiger miscue when Jordan Jones took the ball sent to to the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Pacific would be held out of the scoring line in the first 45 minutes despite outshooting the hosts 8-4.
Oregon State extended their lead late in the 76th off the foot of Nathan Braaten to bring the score to 2-0 on a bender towards the far corner. The Pacific offense continued to press the Beaver backline, however the hosts contained the Orange and Black to notch the shutout win.
The road trip continues for Pacific as they next take on West Virginia on Oct. 1st at 9 AM PDT. Live stats and video will be provided. The showdown with the Mountaineers will close out non-conference play, and the Tigers will open up West Coast Conference action on Oct. 7th at 7 PM at Portland.
