Sophomore (2010-11):
Barton was a Second Team All-MPSF selection in the 200 IM and the 200 Fly. He was also recognized as an MPSF All-Academic honoree. He placed sixth in the 200 Fly at the 2011 MPSF Championships, touching the wall at 1:53.31. He finished third in the 100 Fly against Stanford on Jan. 8, clocking in at 54.50. Against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 29, Barton claimed second in the 200 Fly (1:59.03) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:00.50).

Freshman (2009-10):
Barton finished his first season at Pacific with an eighth-place finish in the 200 Fly (1:55.91), a 10th-place finish in the 200 IM (1:53.74), and an 11th-place finish in the 400 IM (4:06.06) at the 2010 Big West Championships. He was also a member of the 800 Free Relay team that took fourth. Barton opened his season placing third in the 200 Breast against California on Oct. 10, touching the wall at 2:24.77. He won the 400 IM in 4:24.57 versus Stanford on Jan. 9 and claimed a pair of event titles against UC Davis on Jan. 16, winning the 200 Fly (1:58.87) and the 200 IM (1:57.25). A time of 1:59.35 in the 200 IM was good for second against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 30.

Thomas Downey HS (‘09):
Barton prepped at Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, Calif., where he earned four letters in swimming and one in water polo. He was a scholastic All-America selection all four years and earned All-America honors in swimming as a senior. Barton is also a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation.

Personal:
Barton was born in Modesto, Calif., and is the son of James and Paula Barton. He has an older sister, Ellen, who is a member of Pacific’s women’s swim team. In his spare time, Barton enjoys going to concerts, hanging with friends, playing airsoft, and staying physically active. He is pursuing a degree in civil engineering.
