Three Tigers Make Impact And Prepare For The ITF Professional Tournament
Curitiba, Brazil - Three Pacific Tigers will compete in the ATP/ITF Brazil 17 Futures 2011 Main Draw while a fourth Tiger Denis Stolyarov came up short in the qualifying at the Sacramento Future. Fernando Ristow, Valentim Goncalves Jr., and Ivan Castro are all in the Main Draw and will compete against very accomplished opponents, some even regarded the best in the nation. Fernando Ristow will take on number 1 seed and 300th ranked player in the world, Eladio Ribeiro Neto while the other Tigers await their opponents.
The tournament will take place June 6th through June 12th in Curitiba, Brazil. This particular tournament will take place on clay courts and will feature a draw of 48 singles events in one flight, 32 in another, and 16 doubles events.
Coach Redondo stated, "I am so proud and happy for the guys to go out there and compete for themselves while still representing the Pacific Tigers and the tradition of professionalism that we are building here at Pacific. Fernando went out and won the pre-qualifying event beating players he had never beat before. Ivan passed through the qualifying and Valentim was awarded a Wild Card by the tournament director. It's great to see these guys go out there during the summer and continue to challenge themselves and improve their games."
