Pacific Men's Tennis Adds Ashwin Sharma
Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific Men's Tennis Head Coach Ryan Redondo has announced that Ashwin Sharma has transferred to Pacific from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He will join the Tigers in the fall for the 2014-15 season. Sharma enters his junior year in the fall and will study engineering.
Sharma was 2-1 in doubles in 2013-14 with partner Sebastian Ionescu at Buffalo. He did not pick up a singles win last year, but had five singles wins as a freshman.
"I am really excited about Ashwin joining the Pacific Tennis program," said Redondo. "He has a lot of potential and will fit in with the mentality of the Tiger program. Ashwin has a big serve, great hands, and most importantly a desire to learn and develop. I expect him to make an immediate impact and help push us to reaching our potential."
"I am very happy to be joining Pacific as I feel it is the best place for me to continue developing my tennis at a high level while pursuing my education," said Sharma. "I look forward to working with Coach Redondo and my new teammates to bring success to the program."
