Pacific Heads South For Two Matches

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers head to San Luis Obispo for two road matches, taking on Cal Poly and UC Irvine this Saturday and Sunday.  The UC Irvine match will begin on Saturday at 3:00 pm, with the Cal Poly match set for Sunday at 10:00 am.

Pacific finished off a four-match homestand this week, going 3-1 during that two-week stand to improve to 5-3 overall this season.  The Tigers lost a close one 4-3 to UC Santa Barbara to start the weekend but defeated Nevada 5-2 on the strength of their singles game, winning five of the six singles matches.

Miguel Diaz was undefeated for the Tigers last week, winning both his doubles matches as well as both his singles matches from the one spot.  Diaz has now won five consecutive singles matches and three straight doubles matches.

Tadiwa Chinamo also won both his singles matches last weekend to move to 6-2 on the year.  The freshman took down UC Santa Barbara 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (8) before sweeping Nevada's two-spot player 6-2, 6-0.

Alex Giannini was Pacific's third undefeated singles player this week.  Giannini, playing in the four spot both days, beat Chase Masciorini of UC Santa Barbara 6-1, 6-3, then took down Nevada's Kostya Nesterenko 7-5, 6-1.

Pacific also played Cal Poly on the road last year, losing that match 4-3.  This weekend will be the team's first individual matchup with UC Irvine since 2013.
