Tigers Set to Compete at Mountain Pacific Tournament

STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of the Pacific men's tennis team will participate in the Mountain Pacific Tournament hosted by the University of New Mexico on March 3 and 4.

There are eight teams, including Pacific, competing in the tournament. It is a two-day event starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Pacific will compete against Brown University in its first matchup of the tournament on Saturday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m.

The Tigers are coming off a win from last weekend, after defeating the University of California, Irvine, 4-2.

Bernardo Oliveira and Akram El Sallaly won their doubles' match defeating Vatsal Bajpai and Bruce Man-Son-Hing, 6-2.

In the singles' competition, Johnathan Lieu claimed one of the three victories defeating his opponent, Antoine Barthe, 6-2 and 6-4, respectively. Ross Watson and Oliviera picked up the other two victories for the win for the Tigers.

Following the weekend, the Orange and Black return home to host Brigham Young University on Friday, March 9 at noon.
