Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Men's Tennis team has earned the April Pacific Competitor of the Month award.
The Pacific Men's Tennis team went into the Big West Conference Tournament as the #3 seed, behind #1 UCSB and #2 UC Irvine. After defeating UC Riverside in the opening round, the Tigers played UC Irvine (ranked 64 in the country) in the semifinal match and prevailed after a grueling 4-3 victory in 100-degree heat. The Tigers came up just short against top-seed UC Santa Barbara (ranked 58 in the country) in the Big West Conference Championship match. Overall, though, the team showed spirit and determination throughout the tournament and nearly came away with the 2007-08 Big West Conference Championship.
The award is given each month to a Pacific individual to recognize unusual or remarkable competitive effort.
