2011 (RS Sophopmore):
In his second full season with the Tigers, Hughes dominated opposing teams at the pins with a team-high 465 points. Hughes started all 29 games in which he appeared recording a team high 396 kills. He finished the season with a hitting percentage of .272, earning All MPSF Honorable Mention. Hughes led the team with 3.88 kills per set, and a serve percentage of .865. On defense, he collected 100 blocks, which was good for third on the squad.
2010 (RS Freshman):
Making an immediate impact on Pacific’s lineup and throughout the MPSF, Hughes was the Tigers’ best hitter in 2010 en route to earning All-MPSF Freshman team honors. One of the top newcomers in the conference in his first season of action, Taylor led the Tigers with 353 kills in 29 matches while posting a 3.68 kills per game average. At the pins, Hughes was second on the team with 95 total blocks, including 12 unassisted. He also showed his depth on defense, with 141 digs, finishing third on the team. Hughes had a team-high of 420 points, when combining his kills and blocks.
Taylor used his redshirt option during the 2009 season.
Taylor graduated from Fallbrook Union High School where he was a two-time letter winner in volleyball for the Warriors. Hughes was named the team MVP in 2007, and 2008 as well as Avocado League Player of the Year in 2008. Hughes recieved First Team All-Avocado League honors in 2007, and 2008, and was named the high school All-American Third Team in 2008. Taylor was named to the Volleyball Magazine Fab50 list his senior year of high school.
Taylor Hughes is the son of Bill and Lori Hughes, and has two siblings: older sisters Heather and Kristen. Taylor is studying engineering.
