Los Angeles, Calif. – The Pacific Men's Volleyball team got its first look at game action Saturday, October 15. There were no statistics for the exhibition matches, but the Tigers took on UCLA, California Baptist, USC, Cal State Northridge and Lewis.
All matches were the best of 3 sets, with the first 2 sets played to 25 points and the third set to 15 points. For matches that were decided in 2 sets, teams had the option of playing a non-counting third set.
In a preseason filled with optimism, Pacific used the five matches to see how the returning athletes look after the offseason. Notable returners include two All-MPSF Honorable Mention selections in outside hitter Taylor Hughes and libero Javier Caceres.
Also, the Tigers used the day to get looks at the five new additions to a 2011 squad that finished 15th in the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's Coaches Poll.
Pacific will finish its preseason schedule when they take on Stanford and Pepperdine in Fresno, Calif. at Clovis West HS. Then, the Tigers will return to the practice court preparing for their first home match against Thompson Rivers on January 5, all match start time are still TBA.
