Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific Men's Volleyball team added two student-athletes to its 2013 recruiting class after high school standouts Martin Ross and Christian Franceschi signed their National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.
Martin Ross (6'8) is a middle blocker from Frankfort, Ill. In 2011, Ross was named to the Southtown Star All-Area Team and was a third-team selection for the Chicago Sun Times All-Area Team. He led his club team to a second place finish in the 2010 USA Volleyball Junior National Championships where he was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Ross will join his former Ultimate Volleyball Club member and current Pacific middle blocker Tommy Carmody after signing with the Tigers.
Head coach Joe Wortmann is excited about welcoming Ross and Franceschi to the Tiger family saying "we are very excited about these two student-athletes that will add to our team's culture and skill on and off the volleyball court." He added about Ross, "we can't wait for Martin to join the nucleus we have built here. We hope he will make an immediate impact in 2013."
Christian Franceschi (6'3) is an outside hitter from Orlando, Florida. He played in the 2011 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, and was one of 31 players selected for the USAV program where he competed against players from around the world. As a junior Franceschi was selected to the All-Central Florida boys volleyball team after he recorded 487 kills and 275 digs while leading Bishop Moore High School to its third consecutive state final four appearance.
Wortmann commented about the Franceschi's success on and off the court saying, "Christian is an accomplished volleyball player who has been recognized as the state player of the year in Florida two years in a row. He is not only focused academically, but is also an outstanding volleyball player." Wortmann added, "we can't wait to add these student-athletes to the 2013 men's volleyball team."
