The 15th Ranked Tigers Will Host No. 4 Stanford and No. 14 Loyola (Ill.)

Stockton, Calif. – The 15th ranked Pacific men's volleyball team will take on the No. 4 and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) foe Stanford Cardinal on Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the Alex G. Spanos Center at 7 p.m. Then on Friday, Jan. 13 the Tigers will host the 14th ranked Loyola Ramblers at 7 p.m.

The Tigers (2-0):
Pacific is coming off two match sweeps of Grand Canyon on Jan. 7 and 8. Leading the Tigers offense was junior outside hitter Taylor Hughes who finished the weekend with 30 kills, hitting .434. Senior Florian Gornik added 26 kills and collected 10 digs.

Junior setter Patrick Tunnell added 76 assists, averaging 12.67 a set for the Tiger attackers. Sophomore libero Javier Caceres added a team-high 16 digs over the weekend for Pacific. 

The Tiger defense had a familiar sight, as senior Sean Daley collected a team-high 14 blocks, including 3 solos. Also, middle blocker Christian Ahlin added 10 blocks for Pacific.

Scouting Stanford (0-0:
The Cardinal will be playing their first match of the season when they head to Stockton. Stanford is led by senior Brad Lawson who finished the 2011 season with a team-high 455 kills while hitting .331. On the other side of the pins sophomore Eric Mochalski led the 2011 squad with 94 blocks. 

Scouting Loyola (0-3):
The Ramblers lost their first three matches of the season to Long Beach State, BYU and Cal State Northridge. They took MPSF preseason favorite to five games before falling, but were swept in the other two matches.

Up Next:
The Tigers will take to the road for conference matches against UC Santa Barbara and UCLA at 7 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 21, respectively.
