In his third season for the Orange and Black, Koning was Pacific’s third leading scorer with 48 goals. As an attacker, he also recorded 18 steals and 18 assists in 27 games for the Tigers.
Koning appeared in all 31 games for Pacific, leading the team with 50 goals. He finished his sophomore campaign with 22 steals and 12 assists. He scored a career-high eight goals against Chapman at the Inland Empire Classic. Koning also recorded two goals in Pacific's upset over No. 6 Long Beach State.
Appearing in 24 games in his first season at Pacific, Koning scored five goals on 22 shots. He finished the year with five assists and 11 steals.
Koning graduated from Poway High School in Poway, Calif., where he was a six-time letterwinner in water polo and swimming. Koning was named Offensive MVP of his team in 2005 and 2006. In addition to a prestigious club career where he participated in the Junior Olympics, Koning received All-America Honorable Mention honors in 2007. Additionally that year, Koning was named Player of the Year, and was named to the Division I Senior All-Star Team.
Koning is the son of Tom and Mary Koning, and has two siblings, older brother John, and younger brother Peter. In his fourth year at Pacific, Koning is studying business administration.
