Tigers Remain No. 5 In CWPA National Poll

Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific Men's Water Polo team maintained its preseason No. 5 ranking in the Collegiate Water Polo Association weekly poll as announced on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The Tigers debuted at No. 5 in the preseason poll back on Aug. 17, the program's highest preseason ranking since 2006.

Pacific kicked off the 2011 season with a pair of games against then-No. 14 Santa Clara and then-No. 13 UC Davis at the Golden Bear Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. The Tigers dominated Santa Clara 11-2 behind a five-goal performance from senior Tom Koning. UC Davis proved a challenge, however, as it took a late six-on-five goal from junior Goran Tomasevic to seal the 8-7 victory.

The Orange and Black will spend the next ten days preparing to play host to the NorCal Tournament on Sept. 17 and 18. The prestigious tournament serves as Pacific's home opener, with seeding and game times to be announced on Sept. 8.

Tickets can be purchased here and are $20 per day. Live updates of tournament scores can be found at Twitter.com/MWP_NorCal.
