STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific water polo programs will be well represented at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan, as United States men's water polo head coach James Graham announced his roster Thursday.
Pacific redshirt senior Ben Stevenson of Reno, Nevada, and Tiger sophomore Luis Araya of Stockton were named to the roster, along with former Pacific player Alex Obert, who finished his Pacific career in the 2015-16 season.
The Tigers will also have four student-athletes on the rosters of other countries as well. Tim Reeves will play for Australia at the World University Games. The Canberra, Australia native will be a senior on Pacific's squad in the fall. Devon Thumwood, who will also be a senior for Pacific, will represent Canada. The native of Calgary, Alberta was named to the WUG roster. Andrea De Nardi, who finished his freshman year at Pacific last year, will suit up for France. He's a native of Nice.
On the women's side, Kyra Christmas will be playing for Canada. The native of High River, Alberta (outside of Calgary) was a redshirt freshman last year for the Tigers and is playing in the FINA World Championships with Canada at the moment.
Earlier on Friday, in Budapest, Hungary, Christmas scored five goals in a win over Brazil, where she had to square off against Tiger teammate Mariana Duarte, who's a member of the Brazilian squad. The Canadians prevailed 16-6.
