SAN JOSE, Calif. - Luke Pavillard scored seven times as the No. 5 Pacific men's water polo team cruised to a 21-16 win over No. 11 San Jose State to wrap an undefeated Golden Coast Conference slate Friday.

Luke Pavillard scored seven times while Ben Stevenson added four goals, Engin Ege Colak three, and Devon Thumwood two. Derek Clappis, Andrea De Nardi, Tim Reeves and Andres Schmidt each also scored. John Hedges recorded six saves in goal.

Pacific improves to 16-5 overall and 5-0 in the GCC, winning the conference regular season title outright.

Kale Ai opened the scoring on the Tigers' first possession, with Stevenson and Pavillard giving the Tigers an early 3-0 lead. Stevenson tallied again and Thumwood added a power-play goal before Stevenson completed a first-quarter hat trick for a 6-0 lead. Stevenson added his fourth, and Tim Reeves finished inside before Andres Schmidt ended the first period with a goal for a 9-0 Pacific advantage.

Thumwood's second of the night came on a power play and stretched the lead to 10-0. Luka Cupic broke through for the Spartans with a power-play goal before Andrea De Nardi restored a 10-goal lead with a goal 3:14 before halftime. Jacob Mercep added a power-play goal for the Spartans. Pavillard's third of the game came on the power play, but Conor Shuey answered as the Tigers led 12-3 at halftime.

In the third, Pavillard scored two more, while Colak added one and Clappis scored as Pacific led 17-8. Colak and Pavillard each added two more goals in the fourth as Pacific cruised home.

San Jose State falls to 13-13 overall, 1-4 in GCC play.

Pacific will return home for the regular season finale against No. 9 UC Davis on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. The Tigers will celebrate senior night against the Aggies before the GCC Tournament in Irvine. Pacific has a bye to the semifinals on Nov. 18.
