Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team will face the Long Beach State 49ers on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Long Beach in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, had to be postponed after a flu outbreak struck the Pacific traveling party. Nine of the Tigers' student-athletes were admitted to a hospital for treatment on Friday.
"We'd like to thank the Big West Conference and Long Beach State athletics for their understanding and cooperation and look forward to getting back on the floor healthy to compete again," head coach Lynne Roberts said Friday.
"Now that I've fallen victim to the same virus, I have no idea how my team played a game feeling like this," Roberts said Saturday. The Tigers fell to the conference-leading Matadors, 63-56.
To accommodate the rescheduled game, Wednesday's Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State game in Long Beach was bumped to Thursday.
"Our gratitude towards the Big West Conference and Long Beach State now extends to Cal State Fullerton, as well," Roberts. "We appreciate the flexibility of everyone involved with putting on Big West conference games: the teams, coaches, gameday personnel and officials. "
The Tigers (14-10, 7-5 Big West) will be back on the floor on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Alex G. Spanos Center for a 4 p.m. tip-off against UC Davis.
