Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific field hockey team opens its 2011 campaign on Friday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. at UC Davis.
The Tigers return 18 players, including junior Jenna Vivian, who is the teams leading returning scorer after recording five goals and two assists in 2010. Also, senior Amanda Spellman returns after receiving All-NorPac honors last season when she started all 18 games and recorded two assists. In goal, the Tigers feature junior keeper Ashlee Schlesier, who ranks 10th all-time in Pacific history with a save percentage of .724.
Pacific is coming off an improvement filled pre-season where they played UC Davis, Alberta, and the No. 20 ranked Stanford Cardinal. In each contest they grew and continually came together, head coach Linda MacDonald said of the exhibitions, "from UC Davis to Alberta was a great improvement, and Stanford is a great team and we have to play as a team."
With the opening of NorPac play, Pacific will get its second crack against the Aggies after dropping its first exhibition earlier in the month. The two will square off at UC Davis on Friday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m.
