Stockton, Calif. –
Pacific Field Hockey will open its 2012 regular season this weekend at home on Brookside Field against Saint Louis and La Salle. The Tigers will take on Saint Louis on August 24 at 3:00 pm, while the contest will La Salle will be played on August 26 beginning at 12:00 pm.

Leading Pacific into the season are senior captains Emily Trudeau and Jenna Vivian. Trudeau is coming off the best season of her career after being tied for the third most defensive saves in the nation with nine. She will be looked upon to anchor the defense and help the Tigers in transition. Vivian returns in 2012 after recording one assist last year, but will be called to reach the back of the cage this season, as she makes the transition to forward after playing most of last year in the midfield.

Up front the Tigers will also look for juniors Paige Counsman and Melissa Maultsby and sophomore Tarah Trotter to put Pacific on the board. Maultsby finished last year with four goals and one assist, while Counsman and Trotter tallied a pair of scores.

The Orange and Black will need a pair of new faces to step up in goal at the beginning of the season as last year's All-NorPac West Division goalkeeper Ashlee Schlesier rehabs from injury. Redshirt freshman Molly Macierz and true freshman Maggie Corder have impressed through August and will look to carry that momentum over into the games this weekend.

The Saint Louis Billikens will arrive in Stockton for their first game of the season led by senior Lexie Lindblad. She had a team-high five goals in 2011 and will be a focus for the Tigers' defense.

The La Salle Explorers will play Pacific after taking on Stanford Friday night. La Salle is led by junior Mariel Papa who recorded a team high 14 points last season on five goals and four assists.

After this opening weekend action the Tigers will take on Bryant on August 31 on Brookside field.
