Tigers Fall At UC Riverside, 1-0

Riverside, Calif. – The Pacific Tigers tied their season-high in shots with 26, but fell at UC Riverside Sunday afternoon, 1-0.

In the 33rd minute, the Highlanders scored off a free kick by Kayde Hensley, which was headed home by Alexandra Quincey for her first goal of the season.
The loss drops Pacific to 1-1-1 in Big West play, 7-5-1 on the season. UC Riverside improves to 6-6-1 overall, 1-1-0 in conference.
The Tigers out-shot UC Riverside 16-8 in the second half, and 26-17 for the match, but UC Riverside's Sara Slaughter made nine saves in goal for the shutout.
Pacific sophomore goalkeeper Tashia Long made seven saves in goal for the Tigers.
Trailing out of halftime, the Tigers took the first six shots in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the 51st minute, a shot by senior Kristina Wavomba was saved by Slaughter, and Pacific had a flurry of shots in the 68th minute. First, sophomore Brittni Beeman's shot was saved, then sophomore Renae McFadden had an attempt blocked, the rebound went to junior Kortney Agdeppa, who's shot trickled wide.

Wavomba had two more attempts in the 76th and 77th minutes, but Slaughter posted a save on her second shot to keep the Highlanders in the lead.

In the 78th minute, Pacific poured it on, with a header by senior Alex Topp knocked away, leading to a corner kick. Topp's header off the corner was saved by Slaughter.
Pacific had two more attempts, but couldn't draw even as the Highlanders snapped Pacific's three-match unbeaten streak.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, at UC Davis in a 3 p.m. kickoff.
