San Francisco, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team allowed a goal in the first two minutes of the contest at Negoesco Stadium on Friday, August 24, falling 1-0 to the USF Dons. The Tigers dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss, while USF improved to 1-0-2.
USF's Lauren AbuAli scored just 1:53 into the match, which accounted for all of the scoring on the afternoon.
The Tigers took 15 shots in the contest, four of which were on goal. Sophomore Nicole Penick and Junior Maricela Padilla each had four shots and one each on goal. Senior Laura Hernandez had two shots in the contest, including one that was just wide with less than 30 seconds left in the match. Pacific had an 8-2 edge in corners over the Dons.
"We are building each game," said Tiger head coach Keith Coleman. "We outshot them in both halves and had the advantage in corners. With nine new players, we knew it would take time to build offensive chemistry."
Making her first appearance as goalkeeper for Pacific, freshman Kathrine Larsen had four saves.
The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, August 26 when they travel to take on Pepperdine. The game is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Malibu, Calif.
