Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team fell 3-2 in overtime to UC Riverside on Friday, October 26. The Tigers fell to 3-13-1 on the year and 0-7-1 in league play, while the Highlanders improved to 8-9-3 and 2-5-1 in Big West action.
UCR took a 1-0 lead just 7:26 into the match when Alex Duran scored after intercepting a Tiger pass and bounced her shot into the goal off of goalkeeper Katherine Larsen. The Tigers evened it at 1-1 when senior Lauren Olvera entered a free kick off the crossbar that was headed in by junior Brittni Beeman at 37:00. It was 1-1 at the break as the Tigers held a 14-5 advantage in shots.
Just 45 seconds into the second half Tyler Cunningham scored for UCR to give the Highlanders a 2-1 lead. Beeman scored again for the Tigers at 83:56, putting in a rebound off of a deflected pass to even it at 2-2. It stayed that way heading into overtime, when Jessica Cortez scored on a pass from Cunningham for the game-winner at 93:39.
Pacific outshot UCR 28-16, getting a season high in shots and held an 11-8 edge in corner kicks.
The Tigers are next in action with their final home game of the season against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. The four Pacific seniors will be honored before the game and it is also Pacific Plays Pink.
