Jumping into the starting lineup in just her first year of action, Taylor saw the majority of her time at third base starting 34 of the 37 games she appeared in. At the plate, Petty posted a .213 batting average and a .342 on-base percentage as she recorded 13 hits and 11 walks in 61 official at bats. She posted 11 runs and four RBI in her inaugural campaign, as well. Petty recorded her first collegiate hit on Feb. 18 as she went 3-for-3 in the Tigers' 5-1 win over Kennesaw State in Tucson, Ariz.
A 2010 New Caney High School graduate, Petty comes to the Tigers as an all-around talent who can play all eight field positions. Petty earned All-District honors in each of her thee seasons with the Eagles, including earning first team honors in both 2008 and 2009. Petty led her team in hitting in both seasons, along with leading the District in hitting as a sophomore. Petty earned MVP honors in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. In addition to high school action, Petty played a major part in the success of the Texas Impact Gold softball club as she helped lead her team to the 18U ASA National Tournament in both 2009 and 2010 and a ninth place finish in 2008.
Taylor Petty was born in Humble, Texas, and is the daughter of April Petty. She has two siblings, Blake and Lance. As a second year Tiger, Petty is a business major.
