A 2011 graduate of Roosevelt HS in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kamalei was a three-sport athlete as she excelled in volleyball, soccer and softball for the Rough Riders. An all-conference caliber player in all three sports, Pitoy was at her best on the softball diamond as she earned four varsity letters. Leading the way for the Rough Riders, Pitoy pushed Roosevelt to its first Oahu Interscholastic Association division championship in 2009 before taking home a second place finish in the Hawaii state championships. In 2010 and 2011, the Rough Riders made their way into the league championship tournament before bowing out of postseason play. For her play, Kamalei was twice named to the all-state second team.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Lei and Kalei Pitoy, Kamalei has three younger siblings, Kainalu, Kekoa and Kanilehua. In her first year at Pacific she is studying computer science.
