Complete Release

Continuing their tough stretch of non-conference tournament games on the road, the Pacific softball team heads south to the desert to take part in the Cathedral City Classic.  One of the top tournaments outside of the NCAA championships, the Cathedral City Classic features 34 teams from throughout the country and is played at Big League Dreams in Cathedral City.  The Tigers will be looking to get their 2012 campaign on track as Pacific enters the weekend 2-5 on the year after posting a 2-3 record at the Nike Invitational last week.

At the tournament, the Tigers will get no rest from their tough non-conference schedule as Pacific takes on two more top-25 teams (#21 Oklahoma State, #14 Texas A&M) as well as a pair just outside of the polls who are receiving votes (BYU, Syracuse).  Against Pacific's ranked opponents this weekend, the Tigers hold an all-time 8-5 advantage as they are 4-2 against the Cowgirls and 4-3 against the Aggies.  Against BYU and Syracuse, Pacific is 3-3 as the Tigers hold a 3-2 advantage over the Cougars and are 0-1 against the Orange, a loss that came last season in Florida in the first meeting between the two teams.  In the Tigers non ranked game, Pacific will take on Iowa State, a team that holds a 0-1 advantage over the Tigers all-time with the lone meeting between the two teams coming in 1989.
