After spending the weekend at home for the first time in 2012, the Tigers hit the road once again as they head to San Jose State for a single game on Tuesday afternoon. Pacific and the Spartans will meet up at 2:00 pm at SJSU Field for a midweek clash before resuming tournament play over the weekend.
Pacific enters the week over .500 for the first time in the year as the Tigers sport a 9-8 record despite facing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. The Tigers put together a 3-2 showing at the Louisville Slugger Invitational last weekend as they took down Sacramento State, twice, and Delaware while just missing upsetting No. 3 Washington on two occassions. Pacific is lead into the midweek matchup with the Spartans by its newly minted Big West Player of the Week, senior Nicole Matson, who is coming off a career week at the plate that included three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored.
All-time, the Tigers hold a slight 30-29-1 advantage over the Spartans, but have dominated the last decade winning 11 of 15 games including taking the last four contests. For San Jose State, the first month has netted the Spartans 10 wins in 21 contests. At home, the Sparts sport a 7-3 record.
