Pacific To Jump Out Of Conference Play For The Final Time On Wednesday

Complete Release

For the final time in the 2012 regular season, the Pacific softball team will play a non-conference doubleheader as they welcome Santa Clara back to Bill Simoni Field on Wednesday, April 11.  The Tigers and the Broncos will face off for a pair of games scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm, weather permitting.  Last season, the Broncos came to town for the first-ever night game at Bill Simoni Field as the two teams met under the newly installed lights.  In the contest, the Tigers took home an 11-1 (6 inn.) victory over the Broncos.  All-time, the Tigers hold a 75-5 advantage over Santa Clara which enters the midweek doubleheader at 7-31 on the year.

Entering the week, the Tigers are 24-13 overall after picking up a trio of wins on the road at UC Riverside last weekend.  Helping Pacific to its series sweep over the Highlanders was the newly minted Big West Player of the Week, sophomore Kelsey Rodriguez, who led the way offensively for the Tigers.  Rodriguez finished her weekend with a .667 average over the three-game series to lead a Pacific attack that hit .414.  In 12 official at bats, Rodriguez posted a team-best eight hits with five of her hits going for extra bases to slug 1.250 on the road.
