Complete Release

For the final time in 2012 the Pacific softball team will play at Bill Simoni Field as the Tigers close out their home schedule with a three-game series against regional rival UC Davis.  The Tigers and the Aggies are in the hunt for the Big West crown with just six games to play as Pacific enters the weekend tied for first at 11-4 while UC Davis sits a game back at 10-5. For both teams, the series will be of critical importance as a series loss will essentially eliminate them from taking home the championship.

Last season, the Tigers took two of three from the Aggies on the road as Pacific took games one and three of the series en route to winning the 2011 Big West title.  This season, Pacific's game has been feast or famine in the Big West as the Tigers have swept three the three series they have won while losing two of three in the two series they have lost.  At home, the Tigers are 15-7 on the year and 7-2 in Big West play with two of their three sweeps coming at Bill Simoni Field.

In addition to the importance of the games in the title race for the Big West, the weekend will also play host to the Tigers senior day as Pacific begins to say goodbye to seniors Nicole Matson and Alexa Rivera.  The duo will be playing at home for the final times in their illustrious careers with the opening doubleheader taking place on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm while senior day will take place on Saturday at 10:00 am.  The early start is due to graduation ceremonies taking place on Pacific's campus on Saturday.
